How to connect HeyClients to ChatGPT (MCP)

Connect your HeyClients account to ChatGPT so you can ask questions about your CRM and use supported tools to work with your contacts, appointments, and other business data.

HeyClients connects through LeadConnector, so you’ll see that name during setup.

Before you start

You’ll need:

• Access to your HeyClients account.

• A ChatGPT account with Developer mode available.

• ChatGPT open in a web browser.

You don’t need to create a Private Integration Token. You’ll connect by signing in and approving access.

Step 1: Enable Developer mode in ChatGPT

1. Open ChatGPT.

2. Go to Settings → Security and login.

3. Turn on Developer mode.

Step 2: Create your HeyClients connection

1. Open Plugins in ChatGPT.

2. Click the + button to create a new connection.

3. Enter HeyClients as the name.

4. If a description is required, enter: “Connect ChatGPT to my HeyClients CRM.”

5. Under Connection, paste this MCP server URL:

https://services.leadconnectorhq.com/mcp/openai/v2/

6. Choose OAuth if prompted.

7. Create the connection.

Step 3: Sign in and approve access

1. Follow the prompts to sign in on the LeadConnector page.

2. Select the HeyClients business you want to connect. This may be called a sub-account or location.

3. Review the requested permissions and approve access.

Step 4: Use HeyClients in a chat

1. Start a new ChatGPT conversation.

2. Open the + or tools menu.

3. Select Developer mode, then select your HeyClients connection.

4. Test it with:

Show me the five most recently added contacts in HeyClients.

Once connected, try asking:

• “Show me my upcoming appointments.”

• “Find the contact with this email address: [email address].”

• “Show me the opportunities in my sales pipeline.”

The actions available depend on your account permissions and the tools supported by the connection. Review any proposed changes or messages before approving them.

Troubleshooting

I can’t see Developer mode.
Make sure you’re using ChatGPT in a browser. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings. If your account is managed by an organisation, check with your administrator.

I can’t sign in, or my HeyClients business isn’t listed.
Contact HeyClients support and tell us which step you reached and what appeared on screen.

ChatGPT isn’t using my HeyClients connection.
Start a new conversation, select the connection from the tools menu, and include “Use HeyClients” in your request.

Do I need an API key or Private Integration Token?
No. This setup uses a secure sign-in and approval process called OAuth.
